Pittsburgh Martial Arts & Boxing Academy has been training people in Pittsburgh's east suburbs for over 40 years! Coach Bob Barnum has trained people for over 20 years and in that time has worked with everyone from stay-at-home mom's to Champion boxers and kickboxers. We offer programs for everyone including Olympic-style boxing, a mixed muay thai / kickboxing program and a street-realistic self-defense program. You can train in our small group classes or one-on-one with a coach and you are welcome whether you want to compete or just train for fun and fitness with no contact.
Our gym is not open to the public, you have to purchase a membership and all training is by appointment. The good news is you can purchase a membership below and schedule your training right away. If you'd like to visit the gym before getting started, you can schedule a visit HERE.
This is our new option designed with beginners in mind. It includes 2 PRIVATE LESSONS (normally $70 each), ONE MONTH OF GROUP CLASSES, (normally $110) HANDWRAPS (normally $10) and GLOVES (normally starting at $45). We want you to hit the ground running so we've wrapped this package to include everything you need . We understand getting started in a gym like this can be intimidating, we try to make the process as simple as possible. Select NEW MEMBER on the scheduler below and pick the day you want to begin. Pittsburgh Martial Arts & Boxing Academy trains boxers and kickboxers for both competition and just for fun and fitness, the choice is yours. You can train with no sparring and just focus on skill development, hitting bags and mitts and you will still receive the same quality instruction from a coach as if you were one of our fighters. For those that choose the competition path, you will be invited to spar after you have reached a level of proficiency and have been approved by a coach. Safety is always a priority.
The boxing and kickboxing classes follow the same format but cover new lessons each class so you can train and progress without getting bored like a regular gym. In class, you will jump rope, shadowbox, do partner and solo drills, hit heavy bags, speed bags, double-end bags and work focus mitts. All at your own pace, learning new techniques as your skill and fitness level can handle it.
